La Source, north of Taghazout. The spring that gives the spot its name runs out onto the beach.
Quick answer
La Source is a right-hand point break north of Taghazout, named after the freshwater spring on the beach. It works on 3 to 5 ft at mid tide, breaks over rock, and suits intermediates who want a point without the crowd at Anchor. It is the spot I take people to most often on a guided day.
What La Source is
La Source takes its name from the spring that runs out of the hillside and across the beach — you can hear it before you see it on a quiet morning. The wave is a right-hand point over rock, shorter than Anchor but considerably less busy.
It sits between the famous spots, which is exactly why it is worth knowing about: most visitors drive past it on their way to a name they read about online.
When La Source works
| Condition | What works |
|---|---|
| Swell direction | NW to N, the same swells that light up Anchor and Killers |
| Size | 3 to 5 ft is the sweet spot. It can handle a bit more |
| Tide | Mid tide. High can be fat, low exposes too much rock |
| Wind | E or NE offshore. Mornings |
| Bottom | Rock |
| Best season | October to March |

Who La Source suits
Intermediates who can already take off on a green wave and want a point break without the pressure of the Anchor lineup. It is the natural step between Panorama and the heavier points.
Not a beginner spot — the bottom is rock and entry is over stones.
Getting there
A short drive north of Taghazout on the coast road, past the last of the village. Park above and walk down. It is not signposted and it is easy to miss, which is part of why it stays quieter than its neighbours.
The neighbours
Anchor Point is just south and gets the attention. Killers is further north and holds much more size. On a morning where all three are working, which one you should be at depends on the size, the tide hour and how many people are already out — which is precisely what a guided day is for.
