Which board should you rent in Taghazout?

What wetsuit you need in Taghazout, month by month
The Atlantic here is colder than the air suggests. Sun on the beach does not mean warm water, and every year people rent too thin a suit in January and cut sessions short.

A 3/2 mm full suit is the single most useful thing to rent year-round. If you are only here a few days and unsure, take the 3/2. Being slightly warm costs you nothing; being cold costs you the session.
Where to rent a surfboard in Taghazout — the honest overview
We are not the only option and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Here is how surfboard rental in Taghazout actually breaks down, so you can pick what suits you.
- The beach huts near Anchor Point and Devil’s Rock. Cheapest, usually around 80–100 MAD a day. Convenient if you are already there. The boards get hammered by the season though, so check the condition before you pay.
- Surf shops in the village. Mid-priced, better-maintained stock, more range of sizes. Good if you know exactly what you want and can carry it to the beach.
- Premium shops. A couple of places stock high-end boards for hire at a real premium. Worth it if you are a strong surfer on a short trip and want something specific.
- Surf schools like us. Similar prices to the shops, but you get sizing advice, delivery to your accommodation, and a spot recommendation for the day. This is the part that saves you time.
Whoever you rent from, the same rules apply. Check the fins are tight and none are cracked. Check the leash string and the leash itself — a snapped leash at a rocky point is genuinely dangerous. Look for soft spots or open dings on the deck and rails, and photograph anything you find before you walk away so it is not blamed on you at drop-off. Ask whether wax is included; it usually is with us and often is not elsewhere.
Prices in dirhams, so you can compare
Almost everything in Taghazout is quoted in dirhams on the ground and euros online, which makes comparing awkward. At roughly 10.5 MAD to the euro in August 2026, our guide prices work out at about 105 MAD a day for a foam board, 125 MAD for a hard board, 55 MAD for a wetsuit and 160 MAD for a board-and-wetsuit package. Weekly rates come down substantially — message us with your dates for a quote.
If someone quotes you far below that, look carefully at the board before you commit. If someone quotes you far above it, they are charging a hotel-desk margin.
